Here I am again. It's been over a year now, huh?
I'm no longer taking commissions, obviously (although I guess I never announced that here). I really just don't feel capable of managing the work at this time, in my current state... I intend to finish what I've got, but I offer full refunds to my existing clients regardless.
I moved to Ohio in June last year, and I've been here ever since. Life has been tiring, better than in Cali, but tiring. I'm so exhausted these days. I've been traveling a lot, too... on the flip side, by this point I can say I've at least driven through 20 US states, overnighted in 14, and stayed or lived for some time in 7. I've visited Chicago several times by now, and it's lovely - and incredibly striking when you reach its skyline, compared to the SF Bay or LA... the skyscrapers really go on for miles. Deep dish pizza is good as hell by the way.
I've reworked my fictional worlds a lot. Alsiverse no longer exists separately from Okanverse, and the Alsifer star system itself has been integrated with Okanverse, so I mostly just call it Okanverse now, and I've been working hard on elaborating its history. I'm tired of just drawing concepts, I want to write characters with life.
Okanverse, itself, is still just a temporary title.
The premise of this world is that a motley bunch of transhuman spacers in the plausible midfuture (2300s-2500s) are abducted from our universe by a semi-accident. (It so happens that they're mostly furries, and mostly gazelle-folk on top of that, but nobody said it had to be a widely representative sample!) It turns out that, previously invisible to humans, a multiversal war has been brewing between great hyperadvanced societies, and the chaos that ensues leaves countless worlds uninhabitable on the level of fundamental physics...
but our spacers are lucky, finding themselves whisked to a relatively stable new universe, and even permissive to many kinds of previously unknown physics. By the current day, they've managed to expand into the multiverse themselves, creating a burgeoning society where differences in physics between universes are exploited for social benefit and economic gain.
I'll post the history in a writing submission... I'm pretty pleased with myself so far. I aim to create comics and a tabletop setting, and video games...
I've also now properly lived through my first snow season. It was quite nice, really. I got a lot of pretty pictures and also skidded my car out of a barely missed crash. Exciting!
I'm on Twitter now, at
twitter.com/AccelerandoGoat . It's much easier to reach me there than here.
